Thank you to everyone who came out to support Veterans at our 2024 Freedom Fun Run 5K! We raised $45,000 for local Veteran organizations and had our largest registration ever at 427 participants! We’re so thankful to our team members, community, and sponsors for making this event possible!

For our 30th anniversary here at the firm, we wanted to help give back to more Veterans by partnering with Mountaineer Food Bank’s Veterans Table program to provide meals for 30 Veterans each month. We had the opportunity to visit their facility in Poca, WV in January to help pack boxes. “We firmly believe in serving those who have served us. It is an honor to help Mountaineer Food Bank provide healthy meals to our Veterans in need. No one, absolutely no one, in this great nation should ever go to bed hungry – especially those who have given so much for our country.” says Jan.
We were once again thrilled to host the Spaghetti Dinner For Veterans Day this past November 9th, 2023! This fantastic event was back to fully in-person for a sit-down dinner at Knights of Columbus! All Veterans and children under 8 years old eat for FREE. Family, friends, and all other community members are also welcome to join this annual event for just $5 per meal! Enjoy a cup of coffee on Jan Dils, Attorneys at Law! Every Fall, our team partners with local coffee shops to give away free cups of coffee at participating locations as our way of giving back to the local community and supporting small businesses in our area. Each Thursday there is a different local coffee shop for you to try out! We ask that these free beverages be limited to one per customer. We are thrilled to bring back our Golden Apple Awards for 2024! For our Golden Apple Awards, we will select one winning teacher each month who we believe deserves to be recognized for their efforts. We began this award in 2006 and have been celebrating our communities’ teachers ever since! You can nominate a teacher here.

Our firm has decided to partner with West Virginia non-profit, We Have Your Six (WHY6). The organization’s purpose is to advocate for United States Veterans’ right to housing, food, clothing, and healthcare. WHY6 helps Veterans feel safe, healthy, and independent upon returning home. Whether that means providing services to elderly Veterans, paying utility bills, or contributing to children’s school costs, WHY6 is there to help! Being a student athlete requires a special kind of dedication. In the past, we have taken nominations for high schoolers who are exceptional teammates, athletes, and students deserving recognition. We recognized these high achieving young people weekly in 2019 and 2021.
We are passionate about supporting our local Veterans both in and out of the office. That is why we are proud to stand behind Operation Jackson County Veterans Inc., as their mission is to provide support to homeless Veterans. The organization is building tiny houses for homeless Veterans to live in while awaiting a more permanent housing option. To learn more, head here!
