Join us for the excitement of our annual Freedom Fun Run 5K, making a triumphant return in 2025 with both in-person and virtual options! This lively event raises money to support our Veterans, recognizing and honoring their service to our country. With 100% of the proceeds dedicated to local Veteran organizations, we take pride in giving back and anticipate a record turnout this year. Learn more about the 5K and why we do it on our event page.
We are thrilled to bring back our Golden Apple Awards for 2025! For our Golden Apple Awards, we will select one winning teacher each month who we believe deserves to be recognized for their efforts. We began this award in 2006 and have been celebrating our communities’ teachers ever since! You can nominate a teacher here.
Join us on Thursday, November 6th, 2025, for the much-anticipated annual Veterans Appreciation Spaghetti Dinner! This event, held at the Knights of Columbus, is our way of saying “Thank You” to the brave men and women who have served our nation. Veterans and children under eight eat FREE, while friends, family, and community members can enjoy a delicious meal for just $5. All proceeds will benefit Operation Transportation, an organization that provides free bus passes to local Veterans. Every year the team at Jan Dils celebrates Halloween with the community by hosting a Trunk or Treat the weekend before Halloween.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for our 2024 Trunk or Treat on October 26th at our Parkersburg office! From haunted car trunks to wickedly creative costumes, our community brought the Halloween spirit to life. It was a fang-tastic time full of candy and spooky fun. We can’t wait to see you all again for next year’s event!

For our 30th anniversary here at the firm, we wanted to help give back to more Veterans by partnering with Mountaineer Food Bank’s Veterans Table program to provide meals for 30 Veterans each month. We had the opportunity to visit their facility in Poca, WV in January to help pack boxes. “We firmly believe in serving those who have served us. It is an honor to help Mountaineer Food Bank provide healthy meals to our Veterans in need. No one, absolutely no one, in this great nation should ever go to bed hungry – especially those who have given so much for our country.” says Jan.

Every Fall, our team partners with local coffee shops to give away free cups of coffee at participating locations as our way of giving back to the local community and supporting small businesses in our area. Each Thursday there is a different local coffee shop for you to try out! We ask that these free beverages be limited to one per customer. To access the live streams, click the link below. On their page, you have the ability to click the logo of your favorite sports team and watch or listen along in real time. The games usually air on Fridays and Saturdays, so be sure you don’t miss them!
Our firm has decided to partner with West Virginia non-profit, We Have Your Six (WHY6). The organization’s purpose is to advocate for United States Veterans’ right to housing, food, clothing, and healthcare. WHY6 helps Veterans feel safe, healthy, and independent upon returning home. Whether that means providing services to elderly Veterans, paying utility bills, or contributing to children’s school costs, WHY6 is there to help! Being a student athlete requires a special kind of dedication. In the past, we have taken nominations for high schoolers who are exceptional teammates, athletes, and students deserving recognition. We recognized these high achieving young people weekly in 2019 and 2021.
We are passionate about supporting our local Veterans both in and out of the office. That is why we are proud to stand behind Operation Jackson County Veterans Inc., as their mission is to provide support to homeless Veterans. The organization is building tiny houses for homeless Veterans to live in while awaiting a more permanent housing option. To learn more, head here!
