Flexibility. Family Atmosphere. Culture. Advancement Opportunities.
Pros:
There are five core values that our firm bases all decisions from and continues to execute daily in and out of work. Strong work ethic, positive places to work, continuous improvement, teamwork and the most important in my opinion, client centered focus. There is a great culture here! We all work as a team. Management encourages feedback, is willing to listen and you can see they address concerns that may be brought to their attention. There are also awesome opportunities to get involved such as "Culture Committee" and "Ideas For Change" that all team members are encouraged to participate in providing a great platform to present ideas and ways to make Jan Dils Attorneys at Law a great place to work. Compensation and the "hidden pay check" are nice as well. If you are willing to put forth your best foot forward and have a strong work ethic then this is the place for you!!
Cons
I don't have any "cons". The teamwork, continuous improvement and the way that Jan and the Executive Staff (higher management) genuinely care and address any feedback in a timely manner leaves nothing for me to list here.
Great Culture. Community Service Opportunities. Encouraging Team.
Management is very encouraging. Doing a great job with feedback and training. Everyone really wants you to succeed. Meetings can sometimes feel repetitive but not without purpose
Medical records, scanning, transcription of reports, duties that apply to helping clients received VA and Social Security benefits.
I learned how to scan and attach medical records.
Had good managers. Workplace culture was family like but structured to suit the clientele. Hardest part was leaving due to knee problem.Enjoyable part of the job was like a family atmosphere and I met good friends which I still have.

The work is rewarding. Pay and benefits are above average. The atmosphere is inclusive and there is always some form of community engagement. It would be hard for any person to work here and not feel some sense of purpose. I really cannot imagine myself working anywhere else.
I’m pretty well given the freedom to do my job as I see fit. We meet weekly/biweekly for 1:1 meetings to discuss weekly/monthly objectives and goals to help me make sure I stay on the right track. Feedback is a crucial part of my success, and the 1:1s provide a comfortable environment to receive or give said feedback. Everyone is very encouraging of your professional and personal growth. The majority of the staff is very involved with community related events and giving back as often as we can.
Working at Jan Dils Attorneys at Law is one of the most rewarding jobs I’ve ever had. Management is uplifting and encouraging as well as the team members are compassionate and caring about what they do each day. I never dread coming to work and having the ability to help Veterans who are so deserving is one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done in my life.
Ever thought about having a job that you don’t dread coming to work everyday? Where team members care about each other and about the clients? Where you boss actually cares about you and you’re not just a “number”. This is the place for you, trust me!
I’ve worked for this firm for a few years now, and I felt the need to write a review simply because I continue to be more and more impressed by the way we adapt and grow as a team. When COVID hit, much of our nation was fraught with panic over job security. That was not the case at Jan Dils. From the very beginning and throughout the whole process, Jan and management did a great job at communicating changes and giving us peace of mind. I felt like our safety was put first as they scrambled to send us all to work from home in a hurry. Because the transition to telework has been so successful, they permanently allowed many positions to remain work-from-home! That has given me such a great work/life balance. Additionally, they adjusted the PTO policy so that you can make up any time missed from work so you don’t have to use up all your PTO. That’s really helped over the past year, and I’m glad the change is permanent. In the midst of all this, the firm even continued to grant pay increases. It seems like they’ve started listening to our feedback and making great changes!
Some of the cons I have with the firm is that it can be challenging to have a role with heavy phone usage. Clients come with many sad stories that can linger with you throughout the day. Also, the work can be draining due to the fast pace and high volume. It’s easy to get burnt out if you’re not actively engaging. Thankfully, we work with a great team and get individual support from our team leader to help us through. Also, I like all the fun we have as a pod and a firm. We do a lot of community service, have fun events for the team, and even do book clubs which keeps me always looking forward to something. It’s hard work, but so rewarding to help clients who need it. I like that we try hard to put clients first, and I can tell Jan wants the best for us too.

I enjoy coming to work every day and getting to help clients. Each day is something new!! It’s collaborative and inviting. We celebrate birthdays and have pod meetings every week, along with full staff meetings where people get to express their thoughts and the culture is great!! We love to compete for fun prizes like a free pizza lunch or getting to wear sneakers!
Jan is very good to her employees–incentive program, paid holidays,401K plan, competitive wages, chances for advancement, benefits, positive place to work with “Fun Thank-You’s” — just to name a few!! We have the chance to make difference in a persons life while working here and that is very rewarding!! A lot of people have a disability claim through no fault of their own and we are able to help them through a difficult process. Most of us have the work schedule of 8-4:30 and no weekends which i enjoy. When I leave for the day I am finished until I come back the next day and I never am sad that I have to come into the office!! In my position I have the opportunity to meet many people, whether it is a client, old or new, FED EX/UPS drivers, delivery employees or the mail person. I have made friends with these contacts by working here!!
As a VA appeals clerk, it is very high volume and can sometimes be stressful, but at the same time it is so rewarding to make such a difference in the veterans lives. The co-workers are so welcoming and helpful, every day in this department you learn something knew. Management could better communicate across the board, but overall are always thoughtful of their employees when finding solutions at the firm.
When entering the office every morning, it feels sort of like a family reunion. Everyone who works around you is legitimately curious about how life is going and they are all extremely supportive. Great place to work.
“The girls and guys at Jan Dils, Attorneys at Law are very kind and professional. When I needed to get back in the game, they lead the way. They stand in the gap for those who need it most.
“When I applied for SSI, I was really unsure what to expect. I got very discouraged when I was denied twice and then I heard a Jan Dils ad on television. As soon as I went into their office and met the Staff and Jan, I felt so much better about the entire process. Jan and her staff got my entire file put together and let me know what to expect when it came time for my hearing. Jan got me approved and the process would have been way too much for me to deal with on my own.”
“Thank you so much for everything you’ve done and continue to do to help me. You are a very kind and special person.”
“I would like to thank you so much for helping me get my disability…thanks for all your time and effort.”
“It’s people like you who make life worthwhile.”
“I had applied for Social Security on my own about three times and been denied each time. I did not understand that I needed to appeal my decisions instead of just re-applying. When I went in to see the Jan Dils office they explained the entire process to me and when we got to the hearing level, they were able to re-open my prior claims and get me more back-pay. I am so thankful I went to them. I would never have known what to do on my own.”
“I want thank you so much for helping me get my disability. I was at a point in my life where I was about to give up…I don’t know what I would have done without you.”
“Thank you Jan Dils and staff for all your hard work.”
“Jan Dils and associates were very professional and kind. They handled my case very quickly. The response from the staff was immediate for any questions or concerns I had. I would highly recommend this firm. I had my disability approved in 6 months. I am very grateful for their hard work. Thank you so much.”
“I just wanted to thank you for all your help and for being so kind. I really appreciate everything you and your staff have done for me.”
“May God bless you and your efforts in helping others obtain justice.”
“Seamless flawless experience from start to finish. Anytime that we called to ask a question we felt like they were expecting and wanting our call. Jan Dils attorneys and staff do exactly what they say they’re going to do, and they do it very well. The mailings that came out to us from Jan Dils concerning my wife’s Social Security disability claim always arrived within one day never more than 2 at our mailbox. We felt like we were dealing with trusted friends, not attorneys.”
“They helped so much and were always available when I had any questions!! Thank you, Jan Dils!!”
“My experience with Jan Dils and her team has extended a few years now but has been the most wonderful experience I have had. I cannot thank the whole team enough for their willingness to go beyond the norm for me and push past boundaries I never thought possible to come out with the most rewarding and exciting ending I never dreamed would happen. I am so grateful and thankful for their love and dedication to all Veterans and Service Men and Women.”
“They did all the real work. When I showed up at my hearing, my lawyer was so prepared with my medical information and my case. She did most of the talking for me. This was a very painless service and they made it easy for me. I can’t recommend them highly enough.”
I would recommend Jan Dils to anyone who is trying to get their social security benefits. My lawyer knew the process and what was needed to be done to give me the best chance of getting a favorable decision. Thanks, Jan Dils and all who worked with me!”
“Prior to coming to Jan Dils’ office for help with my SSD claim, my case had been turned down by other attorneys and I felt like there was nowhere to turn. Jan Dils’ office not only handled my claim but they helped to make the process as stress-free as possible for me. They ended up winning my claim at the hearing level and I am so thankful to them for all that they did to get me approved. If it were not for them, my family would have had no Christmas this year.”
