Tiny Houses for Homeless Veterans

Tiny Houses for Homeless Veterans

Here at Jan Dils, Attorneys at Law, we are committed to promoting the well-being of local Veterans. We work hard to ensure our clients who are filing disability claims receive the financial support they deserve, and we’re always happy to see others in our community reaching out to Veterans, as well.

As the Parkersburg News and Sentinel reports, Operation Jackson County Veterans Inc. is on a mission to provide support to homeless Veterans. The organization is building tiny houses for homeless Veterans to live in while awaiting a more permanent housing option.

The project, funded by Home for Good, has access to 17 acres of land on which to build five houses. The tiny houses are intended to provide an alternative to hotels, which are often expensive, and shelters, which may be untenable for some Veterans for a number of reasons.

The organization held several fundraisers, including bike night, poker runs, T-shirt sales and more to raise additional funds for the project. Money was donated by local residents, and local businesses provided space for the fundraisers.

The organization’s president, Vaughn Anderson, is himself a combat Veteran who recognizes the importance of providing a stable and peaceful home for Veterans, especially those suffering with PTSD.
