The COVID-19 has caused economic distress for Americans nationwide. But there might be relief available for some West Virginia residents.
On March 19, Governor Jim Justice announced that the state was officially declared an Economic Injury Disaster Zone by the United States Small Business Association (SBA).
What exactly does that mean? It will allow small businesses in the state to apply for low-interest loans, which may help them to recoup after a loss of business during the outbreak. Learn more on the SBA’s website.
In addition, Governor Justice filed an Executive Order requiring the West Virginia Department of Commerce and WorkForce to offer unemployment benefits to individuals affected by COVID-19. Those who have lost jobs, had their hours cut, or have been prevented from working due to COVID-19 might be eligible for benefits.
