Chronic Kidney Disease and Social Security Disability Benefits

If you’ve been diagnosed with chronic kidney disease and are unable to work due to its symptoms, you may be eligible for Social Security Disability benefits.

Individuals who have this condition suffer from a loss of kidney function due to a variety or combination of factors. The disease has five different stages, ranging from slight deterioration in Stage 1 to established kidney failure in Stage 5 that typically mandates dialysis or a kidney transplant. A doctor will diagnose it by testing the blood for creatinine levels and then perform other evaluations to determine the severity.

Those who suffer from chronic kidney disease may also have secondary disabling conditions that affect their livelihood and prevent them from working, such as cardiovascular complications and anemia.

If you’re unable to work due to chronic kidney disease or an associated condition, the Social Security Disability benefits to which you may be entitled can help relieve some of your financial burdens.

If you believe you qualify and have questions about the process or feel your claim has been wrongfully denied, please contact us to schedule a free initial consultation today.
