Each month, Jan Dils Attorneys at Law awards the Jan Dils Golden Apple Award to outstanding local educators nominated by individuals in the community for going above and beyond for their students.
The December recipient was Mrs. Ashley Lott, first grade teacher at Franklin Elementary School.
In her six years of teaching, Mrs. Lott says she has loved watching her students grow, laughing with them, and taking advantage of teachable moments, even if they’re not something that can be learned from a textbook. Her very first class of first graders recently graduated to middle school, which she says was a bittersweet experience for her.
She received the award with her family in attendance, surrounded by students whose hugs only confirmed that she is a very worthy recipient. Congratulations, Mrs. Lott!
