The Jan Dils Foundation hosts the Freedom Fun Run 5K to raise money to support the brave men and women who have fought for our country. Held annually, the event has become a favorite in our community. Participants from around the country participate virtually, and many in the Mid-Ohio Valley gather in person for a morning of fitness and fun. One hundred percent of the proceeds from this event benefits Operation Transportation, We Have Your Six – Parkersburg Division, as well as WVU Parkersburg Scholarship for Veteran Recipients.
“We hear about the sacrifices Veterans have made and the sacrifices their families have had to
make, and we wanted to do something to honor them,” says Jan Dils.
Held annually on the Thursday before Veterans Day, the Veterans Appreciation Spaghetti Dinner directly supports Veterans in the Mid-Ohio Valley. The dinner is free to all who served, and proceeds from the event go toward providing free bus passes to area Veterans.
Jan Dils commented, “We enjoy putting it on. This is something that we plan all year to give back to our Veteran community.”
For over five years, Operation Transportation has been providing Veterans with free bus passes through funding from the Jan Dils Foundation. This program exists as a partnership with local transit authorities dedicated to supporting Veterans. Right now, the program is available in Parkersburg, WV and Charleston, WV. We’ve seen firsthand the barriers our Veterans face, including lack of access to reliable transportation. Operation transportation is one small way we give back to the communities we serve.
We Have Your Six is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping Veterans who are experiencing hardship get the essentials they need. Jan Dils, Attorneys at Law, has a long partnership with the organization, and the Jan Dils Foundation makes an annual contribution. We are honored to be able to help those who have already sacrificed so much in service to our country.
The Jan Dils Foundation funds scholarships for Veterans and family members of Veterans anywhere in the United States. The scholarship is administered through the Parkersburg Area Community Foundation’s online consolidated application process and will continue in perpetuity to support our Veterans and their families who choose to pursue education.
