Jan Dils’ Foundation Raises $6,500 For Operation Transportation in 2017

The fourth quarter of 2017 has been busy for our staff. In November, we hosted our 6^th Annual Veterans Appreciation Dinner. The event serves as a fundraiser for our Jan Dils, Attorneys at Law, Walk4Vets Foundation. In 2017, we focused on supporting Operation Transportation. This community initiative provides Free bus passes for Veterans in the Mid-Ohio Valley.

Our dinner was held on November 9^th at the Knights of Columbus on Market St. Over 200 people participated in the dinner. In total, we raised $1,000.00 for Operation Transportation that evening. However, our fundraising did not stop there. The afternoon after the dinner, our team was joined with representatives from our local chapter of the American Red Cross at the Lowe’s in Vienna, WV. We collected additional donations from patrons of the home improvement warehouse. In total, those efforts raised an additional $250.00.

While collecting donations at Lowe’s, we met a representative from McClinton Chevrolet. That same weekend, their dealership was hosting a fundraiser to raise money for local Veterans too. However, they were not sure which local charity to support. So, we convinced them to support our Foundation. The team from McClinton Chevrolet donated $20 for every test drive completed that weekend. In total, 17 people test drove a car during the allotted time. They rounded their donation up to $350.00.

Finally, our friends from Erie Insurance heard about all the great work we are doing for local Veterans, and they wanted to be a part of it too. Through their Giving Network, Erie Insurance supports hundreds of charities in the United States. After reviewing our efforts, and realizing the issues facing Veterans in the Mid-Ohio Valley, Erie donated $3,000.00 to the Walk4Vets Foundation for our Operation Transportation Initiative.

We appreciate the generosity and support of all the businesses and citizens in the Mid-Ohio Valley. Together, we raised $4,600.00 in the third quarter of 2017. In addition, we raised $2,000.40 for Operation Transportation in August of 2017 also. That brings our total amount raised in 2017 to $6,600.00. This will provide an additional 440 bus passes for Veterans in our community.
