It was there that she first participated in organized sports and developed her love of basketball. She also participated in swimming and gymnastics. Today, she continues to view the YMCA as a trusted community resource and enjoys playing pickleball at the Y.
Dils is the founder of Jan Dils, Attorneys at Law, which she established in Parkersburg in 1994. The firm now has more than 160 team members serving clients nationwide, with offices throughout West Virginia and in Charlotte, North Carolina. For more than 30 years, Dils and her team have focused on Personal Injury, Social Security Disability Benefits, and Veterans’ Benefits, advocating for individuals who often find themselves navigating corporations, insurance companies, pharmaceutical companies, and government bureaucracy.
Dils’ commitment to the community extends beyond her professional work. She currently serves with the Boys & Girls Club and previously served on the Board of Trustees of Marietta College. She is also a graduate of Marietta College and West Virginia University. Dils resides in Vienna with her husband, Chuck Hughes, and their two sons, Hayden and Spencer.
“It is a distinct honor to be recognized as the 2027 Heart of Our Community recipient,” said Dils. “Having been born and raised in this area, I am passionate about giving back to a community that has given me everything. I am blessed to have family, friends and a business that supports me and has a heart for giving back to the community, as I do.”
