Jan Dils Attorneys at Law was thrilled to announce the 2021 Virtual Freedom Fun Run 5k! This fundraiser benefited Veterans and honored their service to our country. We are eternally grateful to anyone who supported and participated in this event. Unfortunately, we were not able to host the 2020 event due to the COVID-19 Pandemic and to ensure the health and safety of everyone involved. The Jan Dils Foundation was excited to host this event however it was held virtually in order to keep everyone safe and socially distanced. Our initial motive in launching this event was to do something special for the community that also benefited our Veterans. We hear the sacrifices Veterans have made and the sacrifices their families have had to make and want to do something to honor them. Jan Dils Attorneys at Law fundraises for Veterans throughout the year, with this event being our biggest and most exciting one of the year!
In 2019, the race was held in downtown Parkersburg so that everyone in the community could be involved. Once it is safe to do so, we intend to hold the event downtown each year. However, this year we asked everyone to participate on their own or with family members virtually between the dates of July 3rd and July 10th. All proceeds from the Freedom Fun Run 5K benefited Operation Transportation, We Have Your Six – Parkersburg Division, as well as a WVU Parkersburg Scholarship Program for Veteran Recipients. Every year we have received overwhelmingly positive support and feedback about this race. In the past we had up to 24 sponsors, 80 volunteers from throughout the community, and over 300 race participants!
For this year’s event, Jan Dils, Attorneys at Law committed to a fundraising goal of $25,000 and the firm matched up to $12,500. We are thrilled to inform you that our 2021 virtual Freedom Fun Run 5K was a huge success! In fact, we raised over $25,000! You can learn more about the event’s success by checking out this article in The Parkersburg News and Sentinel that was posted in the local newspaper.
Lots of planning went into this event but we had so much fun with it! We hope you’ll join us and support the cause next year as we continue to grow.
